At the end of this course, the students; 1) Explain the relationship between communication and language. 2) Defines the functions of language in different fields. 3) Evaluates different uses of language based on sub-fields of linguistics. 4) Discuss linguistic and non-linguistic signs within the framework of semiotic theory.

COURSE DEFINITION
In this course, linguistic signs, non-linguistic signs, communication tools and functions, and elements of communication are discussed within the framework of semiotics theory. The aim of lesson; in accordance with the requirements of developing world, to introduce communication tools to students, to raise awareness of current and artistic issues in print or visual media and to enable them to evaluate them by making use of semiotics theories.
