LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Explain the change of language and its reasons.
2) Explain the theory of Altaic languages.
3) Define the historical periods of the Turkic languages.
4) Distinguish the general characteristics of historical periods.
5) List the works written in historical periods.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, general characteristics of historical Turkic languages from Proto-Altaic language to Modern Turkish are discussed. In the framework of historical events branching of the Turkic languages are evaluated to show as a whole historical periods of Turkish. In addition, the students get an idea of the change of languages and its causes.
