At the end of this course, the students; 1) interpret Native American authors? works within a historical, social, and cultural framework, 2) analyze thematic and stylistic features of Native American authors' works, 3) identify Native American history, the concepts of migration and migrant identity, 4) discuss how literary texts approach multi-culturalism as an aspect of American culture.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course aims to survey Native American culture, experience and identity through an analysis of Native American history and literature. Among the authors to be studied are N. Scott Momaday, Sherman Alexie, Joy Harjo, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Louise Erdrich.
