Graduate studies in Turkish educational system is managed through our University Institions. Both master's and doctorate programs offer bachelor graduates new oppornuties in specialized and advanced fields. The major difference between undergraduate and graduate education is that; graduate program aims at specializing in a specific field while undergraduate program provides fundamental background on many subtopics. Graduate programs offer students the opportunity to explore a variety of subtopics within their field with the help of theoretical courses and research applications. Some of the acquisitions provided by this program in terms of carreer development are, - Ability to conduct independent research and development activities. - Ability to understand and innovate new applications in their research and development activities. - Ability to provide leadership in multi-functional project teams. - Ability to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and social context. - Ability to realize the importance of life-long learning. Master's education is substantial, dynamic and important part of graduate education which through its responsiveness to social needs for advanced education. It plays a continuing and prominent role in the training of the professional workforce. The Doctor of Philosophy program is designed to prepare the students to become a scholar, who can discover, fully understand the fundamentals, integrate knowledge and innovate new applications, as well as communicate and collaborate. The program requires the student to contribute to the development of global knowledge by their thesis work. The education in our Institution which covers graduate level programs in science and engineering fields started in 1996 - 97 academic year with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. It was followed by the graduate programs in; Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Technologies and System Management, Biomedical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Engineering and Technology Management, and Ph. D. programs in; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Computer Engineering.
