General Information

Baskent University Nursing School was established in 1994. In the leading of the our university, the first health sciences faculty was established in the 1999-2000 academic year. Nursing school was closed and Department of Nursing and health services was taken part in the health sciences faculty. The Department is located at the Baskent University Baglica Campus which occupies a covered area of 275 acres of land. 5 Professors, 1 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors, 5 lecturer and 3 Research Assistants are currently working in the Department.The decisions related with the Department are made by the Department Committee which is composed of all faculty members of the Department. The Department is governed by the Chairman and a deputy chairman. Every year, 60 students are accepted to the program. Although the medium of instruction is Turkish, some references are offered in English. The principles and conditions for accepting applications from other universities and applications within Başkent University Faculties and Programs are determined by the University's Senate, in compliance with the rules set by the Turkish Higher Education Board (YÖK ).

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Baskent University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department undergraduates education program graduates;
1.Develops competencies required by the profession by adopting lifelong learning as a principle; follows national and international innovations.Performance indicators:
a) 10% of graduates continue nursing or non-nursing postgraduate education programs in the first 5 years.
b) 20% of graduates continue certificate training or other scientific programs that will gain competence in their field of study within the first 5 years.

2. In collaboration with the team, adhering to ethical principles, carries out the care of the individual-family-society by evaluating the health needs of the individual with a holistic approach.Performance indicators:
a) Persons cared for by graduates are highly satisfied (at least 70%).
b) Graduates have high performance indicators (at least 70%).

3. They take the role of clinician, educator, researcher and leader who will shape the development of the profession.Performance indicators:
a) 90% is employed in the first 3 years after graduation.
b) In the first 5 years after graduation, 5% of graduates take positions in administrative or academic positions.

MISSION: To contribute to the development of individual-family-community health and quality of life by educating competent nurses who can follow scientific, technological, social and economic changes in the field of health and manage these changes and have leadership qualities.
