LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Learn basic trekking and backpacking summer techniques.
2) Learn concept and skills in outdoor camping.
3) Acquire techniques for navigation and route finding.
4) Aware of wilderness risks and survival and participate outdoor party in various terrain to gain outdoor experience.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course contains introduction and concepts of trekking and backpacking, concepts and features of wilderness, organization and planning of outdoor activities on the mountain, concepts, techniques and equipments of trekking, concepts, techniques and equipments of outdoor camping, navigation, wilderness risks and survival.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Introduction and description of outdoor activities,
2nd Week Knowledge of wilderness travel,
3rd Week Planning of outdoor activity and trip preparation,
4th Week Concepts of trekking and various approaches,
5th Week Walking to uphill and summit climbing fundamentals
6th Week Trekking and hillwalking equipment,
7th Week Theoretical study of walking techniques,
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Concepts and descriptions of camping,
10th Week Camping equipment,
11th Week Knowledge of navigation and routefinding
12th Week Prediction of weather from natural indicators,
13th Week Hazards in the wilderness and survival fundamentals,
14th Week Application of all techniques and knowledge in mountain for 6 days.
