LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Analyze the basic concepts of sociology in the context of daily life.
2) Discuss the approaches of daily life sociology.
3) He critically approaches daily life through the concepts of power, reproduction, consumption, alienation and the individual.
4) Interpret the effects of social changes on daily life.
5) Critically evaluate the concepts of work, leisure and daily life.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course aims to explore the sociology of everyday life both theoretically and empirically with a critical point of view. It focuses on different theoretical approaches as well as different field studies examining the establishment of everyday life by questioning the individual-society, from both micro-macro perspectives.

2nd Week Sociological thinking and everyday life, classical approaches.
3rd Week Simmel, Neo-Marxist approach, Heller and Habermas,
4th Week Phenomenology, Ethnomethodology, Schutz, Berger and Luckmann
5th Week Symbolic Interactionism, Goffman and Garfinkel
6th Week Bourdieu, Foucault, Benjamin, Freud and Lacan
7th Week Lefebvre and everyday life
8th Week Mid Term
9th Week Self, power, individual and everyday life
10th Week 19th century, modernization and changing everyday life practices
11th Week 20th century and everyday life
