Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the program. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the program, cumulative GPA must be at least 2.50. The grade of a course is formed by the assessment of the criteria stated above and given as a letter. Letter grades and their associated coefficients are as follows; A 4,0 A- 3,7 B+ 3,3 B 3,0 B- 2,7 C+ 2,3 C 2,0 Y 0,0 P 0,0 Z 0,0 F1 0,0 F2 0,0 Furthermore; 1) In order for a student to be considered successful in a course, he/she must have a minimum grade of (C) in the graduate program, and (C+) in the Ph.D. program. 2) The student has to either repeat the courses he/she failed or take the courses considered equivalent to those courses by the related Institute Board. 3) The (E) grade is the temporary grade assigned to students who have been unable to complete the required work for the course due to reasons stated in article 28 or those who did not take the final exam. 4) The (Y) grade is assigned to the students who successfully completed their thesis, term project, seminar, Ph.D. Proficiency or other non-credit courses. 5) The (Z) grade is assigned to the students who failed in their thesis, term project, seminar, Ph.D. Proficiency or other non-credit courses. 6) The (P) grade is assigned to students who are successfully resuming their Master?s Thesis II and Ph.D. Thesis IV studies. 7) The (F1) grade is assigned to the students who failed the course despite attending, and the (F2) grade is assigned to the students who failed due to lack of attendance. 8) The (Y), (Z) and (P) grades are not taken into account in the calculation of the semester and cumulative grade point average.
