COURSE DEFINITIONThis course covers the theoretical and analytical perceptions regarding different conflicts and conflict resolution mechanisms as well as post-settlement peace processes. In line with this, the course evaluates post-conflict peace processes in different regions, and the ways of peacebuilding initiatives to enable sustainable peace in a comparative manner. The relationship between peace processes and different actors (i.e. Civil Society Organizations, women, youth, diaspora, media) as well as concepts (religion, reconciliation, transitional justice) will be analysed. Several case studies such as Nagorno-Karabakh, Colombia, Turkey, Northern Ireland and Cyprus will be analysed throughout the course to enable students to make the connection between theory and practice.
