COURSE DEFINITION | In this course freedom of expression and its importance in democracies will be explained. The right of freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The European Convention on Human Rights recognizes the right of freedom of expression as this right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers. The freedom of expression will be examined considering Turkey. |
