At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to discuss current data frameworks such as constructivist, content-based, task-based, problem-based, corpus-based language teaching, multiple intelligences and holistic language approach, 2) will be able to implement small-scale presentations/micro-teaching of activities related to these approaches, 3) will be able to discuss topics such as second/foreign language teaching, the importance of culture in language teaching, the use of technology in language classes, the place of communication in the developing world and the need to train students and teachers with intercultural interaction competence.

COURSE DEFINITION
The course is designed to help EFL teacher candidates develop better understanding of basic conceptual foundations of foreign language teaching and learning. They are expected to grasp the underlying learning theories and linguistic views of the language teaching methods and approaches. It is aimed that they will learn main points, strengths, and drawbacks of various teaching methods and techniques used in ELT. The students are also expected to improve their teaching skills through comparing and contrasting all methods and approaches in ELT, and shape their own ways of teaching depending on the educational context.
