COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, the connection of Frankfurt School and Psychoanalysis and its view on theoretical and aesthetic applications are analyzed. Large-scale, "philosophical, aesthetic, psychoanalytic and Marxist" debates, which started in parallel with the ideas of the Frankfurt School (Hokheimer, Adorno, Fromm, Marcuse, Benjamin), of the particular character of social life and the design products reproduced by the capitalist social structure in connection with the "mass, authority, obedience, libido, sexuality and aggression" impulses of psychoanalysis are specifically examined in the context of visual arts.

4th Week Freudian theory, origin, development and aesthetic impact
5th Week Freud: The psychoanalyst theory of art-Lacan
6th Week C.G. Jung, Man and his symbols - Archetypes
7th Week The basic attitude of the Frankfurt School: culture, authority, science, art and political structure
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Frankfurt school: study-mass-media-Propoganda-Myth and reality
10th Week E.Fromm, Marcuse, Horkheimer: theories and discussion
11th Week Adorno: Mass-National Socialism and American cinema
12th Week Culture Industry: De-estheticization
13th Week Habermas, Communicative Action Theory, Criticisms of the Frankfurt School
