LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Know the difference between ethics and morality, can make conceptual distinctions and definitions,
2) Know the main theories and debates in the field of media ethics,
3) Know the place and importance of the concept of media ethics in traditional and digital media,
4) Identify the ethical problems observed in traditional and digital media and discuss the causes and consequences.

COURSE DEFINITIONEthics, as a practice of thinking that seeks and turns to the truth, is very important for the media as it is in all areas of life. Because the media has completely reinforced its position as the fourth power for societies with digitalization. The media, which informs and directs societies, also acquires the quality of governing societies today. For this reason, it is more important to pay attention to ethical principles in the media than in the past. In the context of the course, topics such as the difference between ethics and morality, ethical theories, ethical thinking, journalistic ethics, television ethics, advertising and marketing ethics, and public relations ethics will be discussed.
