LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Understand the national accounts objectives and to interpret the different macroeconomic variables.
2) Understand the connection between interest rate, inflation and exchange rate, as well as the conditions for monetary policy in open economies.
3) Analyze the relationship between inflation and unemployment in the context the Philips curve.
4) Explain why economics focuses on economic growth and develop models that help us to understand which factors aid economic growth.
5) Explain fully the basic concepts, models, theories and tools used in macroeconomics.

COURSE DEFINITIONWithin the scope of this course, basic topics in macroeconomics such as national income, inflation and unemployment are discussed and the relationships between variables are examined through macroeconomic models.
