LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) will be able to count the general and distinctive features of bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi.
2) will be able to define the genetic systems of microorganisms
3) will be able to explain the mechanisms of action of antimicrobial agents and define the resistance mechanisms developed by microorganisms against them.
4) will be able to gain knowledge about the ways of transmission of diseases and methods of protection from diseases.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course characteristics of bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites will be processed. Most important point is relationship between parasitism and human and disease pathogenesis. Infection agent, characteristics of microorganisms, disease-causing ability, infection pathogenesis, and epidemiology of infections will be examined
