1) Know the differences and similarities between the concepts of risk (communication) and crisis (communication).
2) Learn the basic approaches and strategies in risk and crisis communication.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn today?s societies which are full of uncertainty and insecurity, both institutions and publics are faced with various risks and crises. In this course, the differences between the concepts of risk and crisis will be discussed, and the basic approaches and strategies in risk communication and crisis communication will be included. Within the scope of the course, the effects of risks and crises on institutions, and how public categories are affected by risks and crises will be discussed. Therefore, the course aims to show how risk and crisis communication strategies should be at a normative level, and on the other hand, it aims to present a critical evaluation of examples of risk and crisis communication in the world and in Türkiye.
