LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Makes the diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening priority situations, which are common in intensive care, in the real patient with professional behavior.
2) Can directs the rare life-threatening situations in intensive care to diagnosis in the real patient.
3) Performs the necessary basic interventional procedures in life-threatening priority situations, which are common in intensive care (providing airway patency, oxygen therapy, urinary catheter and nasogastric catheter insertion, arterial blood sampling, ECG taking, monitoring etc.), in the real patient and performs effective teamwork with other health personnel.
4) Knows and guides the advanced interventional procedures required in the real patient in life-threatening situations that are common in intensive care.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this program, practice-based training is provided for the intern doctors to monitor the adult patients in coronary intensive care, to recognize and manage emergencies, and to provide basic and advanced life support when necessary. Practical applications are made by discussing the topics in bedside visits, such as acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, shock, arrhythmias, hypertensive emergencies, fluid-electrolyte replacement, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in patients in coronary intensive care unit. This training is given under the supervision of experienced faculty members and research assistants.
COURSE CONTENTSThe aim of this course is to provide students with practical skills in identifying the critical patient, ensuring patient stabilization by conducting the first intervention appropriately, planning treatments and getting support from related departments when necessary.
