LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Describe the basic definitions and measures used in evaluating traffic safety
2) Explaine different approaches (i.e. 5E system, vision zero) developed for traffic safety in the World

3) Interpretation of statistical data regarding traffic safety and accident analysis
4) Explaine the importance of road design (hierarchy, geometric features, etc.) from traffic safety perspective
5) Describe importance and impact of speed on traffic safety
6) Detect hazardous locations using statistical methods
7) Estimate crash reduction capacity of traffic safety countermeasures
8) Evaluate different types of traffic safety counter measures from various aspects (cost-benefit, effectiveness)
