LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Understand and apply a basic engineering drawing software (CAD) according to its rules and drawing standards,
2) Perform geometric construction drawings,
3) Know projection principles,
4) Draw and read multi-view orthographic projections of objects,
5) Dimension a drawing completely using a dimensioning format,
6) Draw and read sectional views,
7) Draw and read pictorial views,
8) Gain ability to analyze and evaluate a design drawing.

COURSE DEFINITIONIntroduction and general information on technical drawing software, basics of engineering drawing in civil engineering applications.
COURSE CONTENTS

1st Week Introduction to Engineering Drawing, starting with the CAD program
2nd Week Basic CAD commands, geometrical constructions, printing/plotting drawings
3rd Week Basic projection methods, selection of view point and lines of sight, and views
4th Week Orthographic writing and completing missing views
5th Week Orthographic writing and completing missing views
6th Week Dimensioning of objects and drawing scales
7th Week Dimensioning of objects and drawing scales
8th Week Midterm exam
9th Week Sectional views, full, half and partial sections
10th Week Sectional views, rotated, offset and broken out sections
11th Week Orthographic reading, three-dimensional (pictorial) drawing techniques
12th Week Isometric and oblique views
13th Week Isometric and oblique views
14th Week Preparation of working drawings, detailed and assembly drawings
