At the end of this course, the students; 1) Recognizes the concept of "other" and knows its importance in identity construction, 2) Can distinguish and interpret the function of the "other" in the relationship between identity and visual culture, 3) Develops awareness of not using discriminatory, exclusionary or offensive language in their own visual designs, 4) Can visualize elements such as class, language, belief, ideology, cultural capital etc. within the framework of identity and culture with correct codes and references.

COURSE DEFINITION
The aim of the course is; is to reveal the role of the other in identity construction in the context of visual culture. ?Who do we call the other?? In this course, we will seek the answer of the question in the context of its relationship with visual culture at different reference points; We will discuss the schemas that establish our stereotypes. And in this discussion, we will see from which elements we build our own identity. Our ultimate goal is to raise awareness about identities and their relation to visuality.
In this context, students are expected to make a presentation on a topic they are interested in and turn the presentation into an article.
