LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Information about the theoretical debates in the field is obtained.
2) The anthropological-philosophical origins of conceptualizations such as modern, barbarian, primitive, indigenous, modern and progress are comprehended.
3) The effect of anthropological codes on art, aesthetics and visual culture is better understood.

COURSE DEFINITIONAnthropology, which deals with human in its broadest aspects; The theory and applications are examined in the context of culture, structural linguistics and semiology. In this context, the universal background codes of the productions in the field of visual communication in the context of cultural anthropology and semiology, the principles of the universal functioning of the human mind, are analyzed in the field of design and visual communication.
COURSE CONTENTS

1st Week Introduction to cultural anthropology. What is Social Anthropology, Types of Anthropology: physics and social anthropology-Cultural theories, Diffusionism.
2nd Week Freud: Totem and Taboo.
3rd Week Theory ?method-practice.
4th Week C.G.Jung, Man and his symbols-Archetypes Introduction to Structural anthropology-Semiology-Cultural semiology
5th Week Theories C.L.Strauss, ?Wild Thought?, The science of the concrete, the Logic of Totemic classification, Transformation systems, Totem and caste, Part universalization and customization, Individual as species, Time re-found, History and dialectics.
6th Week Race History Culture.
7th Week Structural Anthropology, Language and Kinship relations, Social organization.
8th Week Midterm.
9th Week Anthropology in the Face of the Problems of the Modern World.
10th Week Myth and reality.
11th Week Cultural symbols-Analysis- Origin.
12th Week Cultural indicators-Myth-Icon-Ideology-Religion and Political Economy.
13th Week Anthropological codes-Signs in visual arts.
14th Week General evaluation.
