At the end of this course, the students; 1) Will be able to explain the periods from cave paintings, which are the first visual communication indicator, to the present day. 2) Recognizes the visual communication design products of the periods within the framework of their general characteristics, design principles and criteria. 3) Knows the designers who left their mark on the periods and influenced the visual communication design world with their works. 4) Knows the reflection of cultural, economic and political characteristics of periods on visual communication.

COURSE DEFINITION
The developments in visual communication design from the 20th century to the present and the effects of this development on the movements in the field of art and culture are discussed. Within the scope of the course, the impact of the 20th century industrial revolution on visual communication, the trends and schools affecting design, postmodernism and graphic design, the digital revolution and beyond, important events from the 20th century until today in the field of design are examined and the main developments in the history of design that shape current trends are examined.
