COURSE DEFINITION
This course specifically covers how artists and designers use color in visual communication design. The concept of color is explained in detail from a perspective ranging from physiological, philosophical and perceptual approaches to theories based on scientific methods. Color perception, color theories, color models, color combinations, color relativity and color perception as a process of meaning, the cultural dimension of color and the association of all these subjects with art/design concepts constitute the content of the course.
In this course, it is observed how people attach meaning to colors through their environment and past experiences, and how designers analyze the color phenomenon in their designs in a meaningful way. Based on the theories, by collecting data from the target audience determined in the field research, products are designed in accordance with the color choices and interpretations.

Color contrast, color interactions, color harmonies, 1st application.

Color compositions to reflect color expression_harmony+balance+contrast, 2nd application.

Color and color combinations; Classwork: designing color combinations by identifying a space or event, exercise 3.
5th Week
The use of color in history: The use of color in the art and religion of Western and non-Western cultures.
6th Week
The geography of color: the influence of the environment on the use of color.
7th Week
Basic principles on ethnographic research; Local color analysis: color identity of cities.
8th Week
Student presentations on the chosen community (target audience), Project 1.
9th Week
Midterm.

Current color applications, 4th application.

Effective use of color in design, Project 2.
