COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course; basic concepts of sociology, social structure and culture, culture-art relationship. The importance of the concept of culture and its institution in understanding society, social development and art, the reflection of sociological phenomena on art and aesthetics, and the sociological examination of art movements in historical development are discussed.
COURSE CONTENTS

1st Week Introduction to the Sociology of Art.
2nd Week Basic concepts in Art Sociology. Terminological origin.
3rd Week Artistic production and society interaction-Anthropological influence.
4th Week Fashion Sociology: Fashion, gender, identity analysis.
5th Week Psychoanalytic theory of art: Artistic production and social formation: Freud-Jung-Lacan.
6th Week Art sociology theories: Hauser, book review.
7th Week Religion-Palace-Bourgeois: Periods and analysis.
8th Week Midterm.
9th Week Religions and art interaction.
10th Week Aesthetic production-Commodity aesthetics and changes in aesthetic production paradigm.
11th Week Cinema-TV, Advertising and popular culture.
12th Week Marxist analysis: Adorno, his cult industry.
13th Week Post structuralism, post modernism.
14th Week Evaluation.
