COURSE DEFINITION | How we perceive events, facts, people, relationships, in short, how we perceive the world directly determines how we react. Because our reactions are also our way of communicating, the relationship between our perceptions and our reactions is critical in building life. Being aware of this relationship is a valuable thing that opens up space for the individual. For neither our perceptions nor our reactions are entirely subjective; It is open to socio-cultural and psychological effects and is shaped in society.
Therefore, according to the phenomenological point of view, which must be mentioned when it comes to issues such as communication and perception/reaction, there is no such thing as the reality itself. Reality is not an objective, immutable phenomenon independent of human consciousness and the elements that affect this consciousness. Reality is something seen, perceived and given meaning by the consciousness directed towards it.
With this point of view, the aim of the course is to reveal the basic concepts and approach of phenomenology and the elements that shape our visual perception, and by raising awareness to the students; to facilitate visual reading. Because being aware of the essence of our search for meaning will enable us to act effectively, accurately and result-oriented in communication and design processes. |
