LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) The course focuses on the concept of myth, the expectation of people from mythology, and the myth heroes that are believed to be real, produced throughout the ages in the course of natural life, and their power to change society.
2) Through the heroes of mythology and the characters attributed to them, the development of humanity and the variability of the world of thought and the world of imagination are comprehended through the films.
3) The active role of myth is experienced by starting from the practice of advertising art, social media, and contemporary art.

COURSE DEFINITIONThroughout the ages, human beings have wondered about the existence of the universe and the firsts of existence mentioned in religious books and events such as the flood. The heroes of the world of mythology have become the heroes of real life and have shaped the society. The myth and the phenomenon of life, which will be examined starting from the Bronze Age, will be examined in connection with myth and civilization in Greek art. The personalities of these myths, which are seen as the basis of most myths in the West, are gods and their forms, which are reflected in art, will be examined.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week What is myth? What people expect from mythological heroes they created?
2nd Week Myths about creation throughout human history and its reflection on art.
3rd Week Creation in Sumerian mythology and the Epic of Gilgamesh.
4th Week Creation of humans and heroes in Greek mythology.
5th Week Creation, chaos-order dilemma and giants (titans) and their representation in art.
6th Week Greek gods and their characteristics.
7th Week Greek mythology fertility, flood myth.
8th Week MIDTERM Presentation of the projects.
9th Week The concept of civilization in early myths is heroism.
10th Week England/Scandinavian myths and the epic of Beowulf.
11th Week The first mythical works in digital media art (film, video etc.).
12th Week MIDTERM Presentation of the projects.
13th Week Common features of all world myths and reflection on art, New Media Art.
14th Week FINAL PROJECT Presentations.
