LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Learn to consider cinema as a form of communication and a mirror of society,
2) Know the difference between the concepts of representation and construction, and can analyze how representation is used in cinema,
3) Learn to read movies as a narrative form,
4) Since it will develop a certain reflexivity about what the fiction, visual design elements, what is shown and what is not shown indicate, what it says or what it hides in a visual narrative, it can also establish a selective and careful language in its own visual communication designs.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of the course is; to consider cinema as a "way of seeing" and to reveal the cultural codes behind cinematic narratives. In this context, the concept of representation in cinema will be discussed and the reflections of the screen will be sought in the individual and collective memory. During this quest, it will be learned how visual design elements such as light, color, form and space should be handled in terms of the construction of narrative and meaning.

5th Week The Relationship between Cinema and Culture Industry as a Communication Tool and Language
6th Week The Place and Importance of Cinematic Perspective (gaze) in Constructing a Narrative
7th Week Midterm
8th Week Cinema and Cultural Studies
9th Week Discussion on Cinematic Narrative and Society Relation
