At the end of this course, the students; 1) Improve the skills of designing strategic planning process for retailers. 2) Explore the factors that affect consumers' different purchasing act. 3) Demonstrate an understanding of the effect of retailing markets on retailing logistics. 4) Take an active role in individual and group discussions about retailing logistics. 5) Demonstrate an understanding of the effect of retailers on effective and efficient operation of supply chain. 6) Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of information exchange and integration between supply chain members.

COURSE DEFINITION | The aim of this lecture is to formulate and apply principles and practices of supply chain management to retailing. In order to appreciate these principles and practices, the unit will focus on retail logistics, nationally and globally. The unit will also focus on identifying the retail market to enable learners to gain an understanding of the influences that impact on retail logistics. Students will review retail strategies and networks in the retail industry. . Globalization is also important for most businesses and students will examine how this impacts on the retail supply chain. Students will also have opportunities to learn about e-retailing and how this has been used in retail logistics. The unit is particularly relevant for those employed by retailers or by third party operators serving the retail sector and also for those with an interest in the retail sector. |
