LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Comprehends the historical process of documentary cinema and the ethical principles and principles that must be followed while shooting documentaries.
2) Understands how to put the theoretical knowledge learned into practice and uses audio-visual materials effectively while developing projects.
3) Have command of the terminology required by the profession.
4) Explains the methods of researching, writing, designing and shooting the film for a documentary film.
5) Masters the aesthetic point of view and analyzes the elements of the documentary film with a critical point of view.
6) Becomes prone to working as a group.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, the place and importance of documentary films in the history of cinema will be discussed, and the difference will be revealed by comparing them with other genres. Documentary films will be analyzed from various perspectives and the stages of documentary filmmaking will be explained. Within the scope of the course, it is planned that the students who take the course will gain a new perspective on documentary films and learn to approach these films in a critical way. Having mastered all the stages of documentary filmmaking, the student will be able to produce a completed documentary film within the scope of the project to be carried out during the course. Camera and accessories, light and lighting systems, necessary technical equipment such as sound and music, creating a technical team, budget studies of a documentary film, text studies of a documentary film, montage and post production teaching, as well as the definition, history, types, features of documentary film, Research methods and process for documentary film will be discussed.
