LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Comprehends the historical processes and general characteristics of Turkish cinema.
2) Masters the important directors of Turkish cinema.
3) Develops a critical point of view towards movies.
4) Analyzes the narrative structure of movies.
5) Explain the different trends that emerged in the historical evolution of Turkish Cinema.
6) Interprets the relationship of Turkish cinema with the political, economic and social context.

COURSE DEFINITIONIt is planned that the students who take the Turkish Cinema History course will gain a new and critical perspective on the important films of the history of Turkish cinema. The developmental periods of Turkish cinema will be evaluated in a chronological order and how social conditions are reflected in the cinema will be included. The content of this course consists of the first Turkish film discussed in the written sources of the History of Turkish Cinema, the comparisons of the Ottoman and Republican eras, the questioning of the periodization understanding of the Republican era cinema, the efforts to create a trend and expression type, and the comparative discussion of the periodical features from a critical perspective.
