At the end of this course, the students; 1) Comprehend the definition, historical development and research areas of social psychology. 2) Explain the social and cultural dimension of human behavior. 3) Gains competence in issues such as attitude, attitude change, social perception, conflict. 4) Analyzes and evaluates the effects of media contents. 5) Evaluates the interaction between society and individual.

COURSE DEFINITION
The aim of this course consists of explaining the field of social psychology and research methods used in this field, and examining the main topics of interest. In addition, to examine human behavior shaped by the effects of other people, interpersonal relationships, to introduce basic social psychology theories, to develop students' ability to catch their reflections in daily life in the light of these basic theories and to reflect them into practice. Social psychology is a discipline devoted to understanding how our emotions, behaviors, and thoughts are affected by social structure and process. This course includes the following topics: The historical process of the field, the main theoretical and methodological issues, social cognition, stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination, the self in a social and cultural context.
