At the end of this course, the students; 1) Understands editing techniques. 2) Knows photo, audio, video formats and their features, prepares them for editing. 3) Explains the principles and principles of fiction, evaluates the fiction materials according to these principles. 4) Dominates the features of different broadcast media and performs the editing. 5) Masters the editing programs and their features.

COURSE DEFINITION
With the Editing Techniques course, the student; learn the importance of editing and basic editing principles; It is aimed to gain competencies in video editing in accordance with the basic editing rules in terms of technical and aesthetics. In this course, basic editing theories (Lev Kuleşov, Vsevolog Pudovkin, Dziga Vertov, Sergei Mikhailovich Eizenshtein, David Wark Griffith, Alfred Hitchcock), editing techniques in television, editing art and technique, image transition types and effects, rules to be considered in editing, editing program In addition, a final project will be prepared in which students will determine their own topics and shoot and edit as a team.

1st Week
What is fiction?, importance of editing, introduction to editing in television.
2nd Week
Editing techniques in television, live broadcast editing, tape broadcast editing, editing principles in television.
3rd Week
Editing mechanics in television, camera editing, linear editing, non-linear editing, film editing, picture selector, tasks of picture selector, use of picture selector.
4th Week
Editing art and technique, image transition types and effects, sound editing, general rules to be considered in editing. Continuity and inflection scales.
5th Week
Photo, audio, video formats and features, preparation of images for editing. Digital video editing, general introduction of the editing program.
6th Week
User settings in the editing program, creating a project file, project settings. The program's interface, monitor window, clip and sequence window, timeline window, information window and important shortcut keys.
7th Week
Assigning clips and sound to the editing program, naming and arranging clips, working with sequences, assigning clips to the timeline window, positioning the clips in the timeline window.
8th Week
Midterm
9th Week
Cutting clips, rough editing and saving the project. Transition to fine editing, image transition effects.
10th Week
Working with on-image effects and key markers. Creating Picture in Picture and split screen.
11th Week
Add text to image, create flowing text.
12th Week
Making the last viewing, fixing the problems, finishing the editing, taking the video output, converting it to the desired image format and saving it.
13th Week
Application lesson. Monitoring, discussion and evaluation of projects where students transform their acquired competences into practice.
14th Week
