At the end of this course, the students; 1) Be able to discuss key concepts and developments in Anatolian architecture from the Seljuks to the Ottomans through a critical and analytical framework. 2) Be able to critically review the scholarship on the selected topics of the semester. 3) To evaluate different approaches to selected issues of the semestre on Anatolian Turkish architecture. 4) Have knowledge on architectural historiography on Turkey and in Turkey. 5) Develop skills on thinking, reading, and writing on architecture.

COURSE DEFINITION
This course questions key concepts and developments in Anatolian architecture from the Seljuks to the Ottomans through a critical and analytical framework. Instead of a thorough knowledge accumulation on the built environment, architectural milieu and production in Seljuk and Ottoman Anatolia, the aim of the course is to examine the studies relevant to the selected concepts, reviewing the scholarship related to the subject and within this context to discuss and evaluate different approaches to similar problems and issues.
