At the end of this course, the students; 1) Know the basic assumptions of elitist and anthropological approaches to the concept of culture. 2) Know the discussions of different theoretical approaches to popular culture.
3) Make critical evaluations by making cultural analyzes on popular culture.

COURSE DEFINITION
The course focuses on how culture is defined within the framework of elitist and anthropological approaches, and how liberal, critical, cultural and postmodern approaches to popular culture conceptualize popular culture. In the course, popular culture studies of different theoretical approaches are also included.
