1) Will learn the basic elements of media literacy,methods, media strategies and communication techniques.
2) Will gain the necessary theoretical knowledge about the field.
3) Will gain practical background competency for upcoming communication courses in the curriculum.

COURSE DEFINITIONThe basic concepts of media studies will be thought.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Introduction to the basic elements of communication process and the different types of copmmunication.
2nd Week The basic elements of mass communication, interpersonal communication, computer mediated communication.
3rd Week The basic elements of mass communication, interpersonal communication, computer mediated communication.
4th Week The functions of communication and the role of mass media within the society.
5th Week Mainstream communication theories and basic concepts (from 1900 to 2000, including brief history ).
6th Week Mainstream communication theories and basic concepts (from 1900 to 2000, including brief history ).
7th Week Mainstream communication theories and basic concepts (from 1900 to 2000, including brief history ).
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Introduction to the basic concepts of semiology.
10th Week The function of the myth within the contemporary societies.
11th Week Identity construction and the role of mass media, the cration of habitus, the types of capital.
12th Week Identity construction and the role of mass media, the cration of habitus, the types of capital II.
13th Week Overview of the basic concepts of the mainstream communication theories I.
14th Week Overview of the basic concepts of the mainstream communication theories II.
