LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Define the law as a subject of philosophy.
2) Define the concept of law.
3) Distinguish the law from similar concepts.
4) Explain the concept of legal reasoning.
5) Relate the value of justice with other value systems.
6) Distinguish justice from other value systems.
7) Discuss the relation of justice with ethics, esthetics, and logic.
8) Distinguish different kinds of justice.
9) Evaluate the modern legal thinking with its historical examples.
10) Explain the historical conditions producing legal positivism.
11) Explain the historical conditions producing the revival of the idea of natural law.
12) Explain the theoretical approaches of the realist theories.
13) Distinguish the theories having similar epistemological basis.
14) Compare Hart's positivism with the normativism of Kelsen.
15) Compare the natural law idea with other natural law theories based on the theory of value.
16) Compare the American realism with Scandinavian realism.
