LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Distinguishes quantitative research approaches,
2) Compares different research approaches,
3) Designs a defensible research problem/question related to the related discipline,
4) Makes generalizations based on literature review related to the research question,
5) Decides on the research method and design appropriate to the solution of the research problem,
6) Evaluates research articles written in the field based on internal and external validity criteria.

COURSE DEFINITIONIn this course, it is aimed for students to develop the basic concepts of quantitative research methods. In this process, points that need to be taken into consideration, especially regarding publication ethics, are emphasized. At the end of the course, students will be able to compare the basic concepts and types of scientific research used in research in the field of social sciences, define defensible research problems, conduct a literature review for the research problem, propose hypotheses for the problem situation, determine different samples, choose research methods and data collection techniques that are suitable for the research question. They are expected to make decisions, evaluate research conducted in their field in terms of validity, and understand the basic concepts of research and publication ethics and the basic principles of unethical behavior.

3rd Week Hypothesis, dependent variable, independent variable, intermediate variable
4th Week Quantitative research types (Experimental designs, Correlative research)
5th Week Quantitative research types (Research requiring comparison, Field Surveys), Mixed designs
6th Week Literature review and ethical principles
7th Week Sample selection
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Information gathering tools in research
10th Week Internal validity of the research
11th Week External validity of the research
12th Week Evidence of validity and reliability in data collection,
13th Week Reporting of the research: sections, writing rules, bibliography and ethical principles
14th Week Sample article reviews studied in the field of profession
