LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Learn the basic concepts, themes and methods of Educational Anthropology
2) Understand similarities and differences in basic areas such as school, class, syllabus and teacher training by analyzing the educational studies about different cultures
3) Evaluate the educate teaching and learning processes in a cultural context both at national and global level.

COURSE DEFINITIONContent, basic concepts, history and methods of anthropology; basic approaches in social-cultural anthropology; education from the anthropological perspective and basic concepts of educational anthropology; culture, acculturation, adaptation, subculture, common culture etc, cultural foundations and functions of education; intercultural differentiation; education and learning, school as a life space; school cultures and ethnologies, media, mass media means; popular culture and education; globalization; cultural interactions, cultural literacy and education; education in the oral and written literary work of Turkish culture and civilization history , roles of parents and children in the Turkish family structure.

2nd Week Anthropology; its topics, history, basic concepts and methods
3rd Week Social/Cultural Anthropology, basic approaches
4th Week Basic concepts and methods in Anthroplogy of Education
5th Week Culture and classifications of culture
6th Week Acculturation, adaptation, assimilation, cultural difference
7th Week Cultural foundations of education, Differentiation between cultures in education and learning
8th Week MidTerm
9th Week School, School cultures, school climate
10th Week School etnographies
11th Week Media, communication tools, popular culture and education
12th Week Globalization and education
13th Week Samples of our educational culture in Turkish literature
14th Week Anthropology of the Turkish Family
