LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Examines the basic concepts on which mathematical literacy is based,
2) Discusses the meaning of mathematical literacy,
3) Discusses the skills involved in mathematical literacy,
4) Analyses literacy questions in national and international exams,
5) Designs in-class activities that should be done to improve the mathematical literacy of secondary school students.

COURSE DEFINITIONStudents taking this course are expected to address the basic concepts of mathematical literacy within the scope of mathematical competencies. In this course, the importance of a mathematically literate individual's ability to construct and solve problems, mathematical modeling, reasoning and argumentation, communication, representation, representation, using mathematical language and operations; the place of mathematical literacy in national and international large-scale tests; the skills that middle school students should gain to improve their mathematical literacy; making teaching suitable for mathematical literacy, examining sample questions, activities and lesson plans.
