At the end of this course, the students; 1) Recognizes the nature of mathematical thinking. 2) Distinguishes the basic aims and principles of mathematics teaching. 3) Examines the reflections of learning and teaching approaches on mathematics teaching. 4) Distinguishes the development processes of basic skills in mathematics teaching. 5) Recognizes the principles of classroom mathematics teaching practice. 6) Researches current approaches and problems in mathematics teaching.

COURSE DEFINITION
Students who take this course are expected to have knowledge about the basic concepts of mathematics teaching and to gain a general perspective on mathematics learning and teaching based on mathematical thinking. In this course, the nature of mathematics and mathematical thinking, the meaning of learning and teaching mathematics, the purpose and basic principles of mathematics teaching, the reflections of learning and teaching approaches on mathematics teaching, basic skills in teaching mathematics, in-class practice examples, current trends and problems in teaching mathematics, an effective way of teaching mathematics. Components of mathematics teaching, mathematical errors, difficulties, misconceptions, reasons, and types of misconceptions are included.
