1) Knows the content and scope of the Social Studies curriculum.
2) Uses methods and techniques to support primary school Social Studies course.
3) Knows and applies value education approaches in primary school Social Studies course.
4) Uses the appropriate materials in lesson plans in accordance with the objectives of the Social Studies course in primary school.
5) Designs an appropriate lesson in the light of all the information gained by using the achievements of the Social Studies course in primary school.

COURSE DEFINITIONStudents taking this course are expected to effectively plan and implement the primary school Social Studies course. Course content includes the characteristics of Social Studies area, basic characteristics and skills of Social Studies, the themes and areas in Social Studies teaching, history and place of Social Studies in primary education, examination of Social Studies Curriculum (standard, skill, theme etc.); strategies, methods, techniques and materials used in Social Studies, the sample implementations for Social Studies; Social Studies Course Books, democracy education in Social Studies course.

2nd Week Content of the Social Studies Course and the structure of the SSC curriculum
3rd Week Concepts, concept teaching and concept teaching approaches in Social Studies Course

5th Week Values, value education and value education approaches in Social Studies course
6th Week Examinig the SSC books
7th Week Instructional planning of the course Social Studies
8th Week Midterm
9th Week Using materials in Social Studies education
