At the end of this course, the students; 1) will be able to explain the importance of mathematics in human history. 2) will be able to interpret the foundations of set theory. 3) will be able to explain operations on numbers. 4) will be able to give meaning to the concept of function and recognise its general properties. 5) will be able to have general information about data-data collection, analysis and interpretation.

COURSE DEFINITION
Number systems and hierarchical model, closedness properties of number systems according to four operations, solving and setting up problems involving four operations, writing numbers in bases and converting a number written in other bases to another base, divisibility rules, least common multiple and greatest common divisor, fraction and four operations with fractions, fraction and ratio relationship, writing numbers in decimal fraction and four operations, pattern, real numbers, basic operations in the set of rational numbers, basic geometric shapes, basic units of measurement and the relationship of these subjects with the aims, principles and primary school mathematics programme.
