LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) By the end of this course, students will acquire basic concepts and principles of development;
2) developmental characteristics of the prenatal and postnatal baby,
3) newborn care and feeding,
4) evaluation of factors affecting development,
5) cognitive, physical, psychomotor and language development in early childhood; preparation of actvities to support development areas.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course aims for prospective teachers to learn about the motor, cognitive, and language development characteristics of children during prenatal and early childhood periods (0-8 years).

3rd Week Conception and Prenatal Period (Ovum, Embryo, Fetus Period),
4th Week Postnatal Period, Physical and Physiological Characteristics of Newborns,
5th Week Reflexes of Newborns, Adaptation to New Life, Care, and Feeding of Newborns,
6th Week Newborn Check-ups, Premature Babies, Low Birth Weight Babies, Postmature Babies,
7th Week Attachment Theory,
8th Week Definitions of Cognitive Development, Concepts Related to Cognitive Development (Perception, Imitation, Attention, Memory, etc.), Individual Differences in Cognitive Development,
