LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) He/she will have information about the physical risk factors that negatively affect the health of workers at workplaces.
2) He/she will have information about measurements methods of physical risk factors Physical risk factors for the environment and the people
3) He/she will have information about the permissible values in national and international standards
4) He/she will have information about control of physical risk factors in the workplace and occupational safety technician duties

COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of the course is to give information about physical risk factors which are harmful to health in the workplace.
COURSE CONTENTS
WEEKTOPICS
1st Week Historical development of occupational hygiene and introduction to occupational hygiene.
2nd Week Occupational safety and health.Classification of workplace hazards.
3rd Week Relationship between industrial toxicology and occupational hygiene.
4th Week Basic toxicology; Classification of toxicity
5th Week Epidemiological data on the health effects of the industrial chemicals.
6th Week Basic principle of risk analysis; Introduction to risk assessment, risk management and risk communication.
7th Week Health and safety risk assessment in the work places.
8th Week Midterm Exam
9th Week Occupational exposure limit values as a risk management tool of the workplace chemicals; Scientific methodology behind the establisment of the occup
10th Week Scientific methodology on which occupational exposure limits are based
11th Week Acute poisoning in work places.
12th Week Occupational chemical groups as occupational diseases causative agents I: Chemical carcinogens, dusts, metals, organic solvents.
13th Week Occupational chemical groups as occupational diseases causative agents II: Chemical carcinogens, dusts, metals, organic solvents.
14th Week International and national legislation in the occupational safety and health.
