LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT At the end of this course, the students;
1) Analyze existing spaces and new architectural design problems in line with the needs and demands of users with various disabilities.
2) Recognize architectural design criteria and accessibility standards for the disabled.
3) Produce architectural design solutions inline with the needs and demands of disabled users by making theoretical and practical studies according to the relevant national and international standards as data in the design.
4) Adopt the ?Design for All? principle in the design of built environment.
5) Demonstrate ability in collaborative thinking, working and design.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course is designed for students to raise their awareness and ability to foresee the problems that may be faced by the disabled in the built environment design and understand the need for design solutions in line with the needs and demands of the users with various temporary or permanent disabilities. The course aims to define the characteristics of users with various disabilities and to develop the knowledge and skills of designing spaces according to universal standards.

2nd Week Problems, needs and demands of users with different permanent or temporary disabilities in the built environment
3rd Week Built environment design problems and solutions for the disabled ? Public exteriors
4th Week Built environment design problems and solutions for the disabled ? Public interiors
5th Week Built environment design problems and solutions for the disabled ? Housing
6th Week MIDTERM
7th Week Group project introduction, preliminary study for the group project and identification of groups and topics
8th Week Discussions on the group project
9th Week Group project Breakout Presentation 1
