At the end of this course, the students; 1) To gain an ability to develop interpretations of fundamental terminology and concepts in architectural theory and practice. 2) To enlarge professional knowledge, visual memory and intellectual visions through discussions developed on various examples in which the concepts that form the basis of design and construction processes are diversified. 3) To analyze and evaluate the spatial characteristics and organization principles of selected buildings/ built environments/projects and/or processes. 4) To develop critical reading skills of built environments and structures by visual, textual and spatial analysis. 5) To be able to use architectural memory acquired and apply their diagrammatic reading and architectural criticism skills to design and presentation processes of the project they are working on in the design studio.

COURSE DEFINITION
The course enables students to diversify their relationship with built environment, visual and spatial perception, based on architectural terminology and concepts. It is aimed to investigate the spatial qualities, systems, organization principles of buildings, which are exemplified in lectures and analyzed by the students. The method used for this purpose is to initiate discussions on various examples in which the basic concepts are diversified in architectural design and construction, and to improve architectural reading comprehension and criticism skills of the students through analyzing by diagramming the structures that are important in architectural history, theory and design which have a place in the contemporary architectural discussions.
