1) Analyze important examples of Greek architecture.
2) Acquires knowledge about the contribution of Anatolian architects to Greek architecture.
3) Recognize how architecture shapes and reinforces cultural systems.
4) Acquire knowledge and skills about writing and presenting academic research report.

COURSE DEFINITIONThis course is about ancient Greek architecture which is based on functionality. The purpose of this course; to ensure that the structural elements and every architectural element used are understood by the student. The students are aimed to understand the types of buildings, the thought of the police and the contribution of the works of Anatolian architects to the Greek architecture in ancient times.

3rd Week The roles of the architect and the practice of architecture as explained in Marcus Vitruvius Pollio
4th Week Early Greek Temples, Greek Architectural Orders
5th Week Doric Buildings;examples in Italy, Sicily, Greece and Anatolia
6th Week Ionic Buildings; examples in Anatolia and Greece
7th Week Architects and their works and sponsors
8th Week Architects and their works and sponsor
9th Week Sanctuaries and their planning
10th Week Case study
11th Week Case study
