COURSE DEFINITION
This course, which is the third in the series of "Architecture History" courses, focuses on important developments in the field of architecture from the Age of Enlightenment to the first half of the 20th century. The aim of the course is to examine and to analyze the developments, transformations and changes in architecture and the built environment in the light of the ongoing social, social, economic, cultural and technological contexts and interactions for the above-mentioned time period. While the course will examine the transformations of architectural concepts that prevailed in the current geography during the periods in question, it will also shed light on the architectural historiography shaped simultaneously by different geographies of the globe, moving beyond a Western-oriented canonical architectural history discourse.
