LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE COURSE UNIT |
At the end of this course, the students; 1) Answer questions related to the history of genetics. 2) Interpret the basic principles of inheritance and its extensions and solve inheritance problems. 3) Explain chromosome mapping and solve problems and evaluate and classify chromosome mutations. 4) Evaluate and explain the mechanism of sex determination and sex-related inheritance. 5) Evaluate information related to population genetics and quantitative genetics and solve problems. 6) Analyse and interpret DNA techniques used in forensic science.

COURSE DEFINITION | This course is designed to provide students with knowledge of genes, chromosomes and the patterns of inheritance and the genetics of organisms and populations, and to link this knowledge to molecular genetics, evolution and population genetics. |
