COURSE DEFINITIONThe aim of the course is to teach student the jazz harmony in both theoritical and practical ways.

1st Week Altered accords, suspensions, compound, polytonal and miscellany / mixed accords.
2nd Week Dominant accord, minor subdominant accord and substitutes.
3rd Week Major, minor and modal scale accords and substitutes.
4th Week Harmonization, analysis and applications of various jazz standard melodies.
5th Week Modern accord progressions, examples and applications.
6th Week Melodic structure, formation and harmonization, sentetic modes.
7th Week Harmonization, analysis and applications of various jazz standard melodies.
8th Week Midterm Exam
9th Week Principles of improvisation, chordal and scale approaches.
10th Week Modal jazz compositions and improvisations, analysis and applications.
11th Week Improvisation and its applications.
12th Week Improvisation and its applications.
13th Week Harmonization, analysis and applications of various jazz standard melodies, improvisation.
